How IT in the Age of Digital Transformation Is Like the Space Race
By Susan Cole
Next month will mark the 47th anniversary of Apollo 13. The film that
recounts the story is a favorite of mine, probably because it so masterfully
captures the incredible suspense, fear, and hope felt by people everywhere,
that I personally recall very well. I also know how an organization’s
digital transformation can generate similar reactions!
Apollo 13 was likely a casualty of the space program’s incredibly
aggressive schedule. NASA, with U.S. political and military leaders, was
motivated by competition from the U.S.S.R. and fear of the potential
consequences of not being first. Urgency often overruled caution. A good plan
today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow.
“First” is a competitive imperative in business, too, creating an urgency
around digital innovation. But unlike the sp... (more)
Here at Dynatrace, we were pretty excited (but not completely surprised) to
see a number of our partners making the A-list in Gartner’s newly launched
Magic Quadrant report, which identifies the top 20 Public Cloud
Infrastructure Managed Service Providers Worldwide.
There stood HCL Technologies and CSC among the likes of Capgemini, Melbourne
IT, Bulletproof, Rackspace, Wipro and Infosys. I specifically called out
these two valuable partners because it just so happens that we’ve been

This posting illustrates how to effectively automate shared infrastructure

Close Encounters with Out of This World Digital Experience
By Aaron Rudger
As technologists, we find ourselves in the middle of tumultuous times and
radical change: cloud, containers, automation, artificial intelligence,
mobility, the Internet of Things, cyberwarfare, digital transformation, and
more! When the $! hits the fan, military strategists reference a mental
framework called the OODA loop, to sort chaos into clarity. At Perform 2017,
we were reminded of how customers continue to find clarity amidst today’s
complexity by focusing on their customers. This year’s Digital Ex... (more)
The Dynatrace DevOps Pipeline State UFO was built out of the necessity to
visualize alerts, problems, health and CI/CD pipeline state within the
Dynatrace R&D organization. It sparked a cultural transformation as it made
code quality that we pushed more frequently through our Delivery Pipeline
more visible. You should read the background story from our Chief Software
Architect Helmut Spiegl who invented the first versions of the UFO.
We officially announced the Dynatrace DevOps UFO at PERFORM 2017 as an open
source project. If you want to DIY (Do It Yourself) follow the 3D printi... (more)
